Miss a Meal

The IMB, our mission sending agency, that supports us 100%, has launched a public giving Campaign - MISS A MEAL FOR MISSIONS.  The concept is simple: donate the $10 you would have spent, on a meal, to global missions. You can that by texting 4mission to 80888 OR you can give online at  imb.org/meal.

100% of which goes to support worldwide missionaries. :)

PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YOUR CHURCHES, family, kids and individuals so that the world can be reached for Christ because missionaries, like us, will be on the field!   You can even encourage your church to reach a certain goal (outside of Lottie Moon, of course).

Also, take a photo of your empty plate and share it on all the social media that you are connected with to encourages others to participate. Let's have some fun raising money for world missions! #missamealformissions #supportingthephams

New IMB President Elected!

http://www.bpnews.net/43237/platt-succeeds-elliff-as-imb-president

Ever since our Central/South America meeting in the Dominican Republic#ampsummit, I have been secretly begging/praying that the Lord would appoint David Platt David Platt Official David Platt Page, author of the New York Times Best Selling Book Radical, as the new President of the International Mission Board (IMB). It has been the secret cry of my heart. Today, I received the answer to my prayer and not only did it increase my faith but it led me to tears. This is a major step for our mission and I am incredibly JOYFUL and PROUD to see where this Man of God is going to lead us in the future. And praise God, for answering a little girl's silent prayers.

Here is the press release:

David Platt was elected president Aug. 27 by Board trustees, meeting at ILC,
Platt, 36, shepherds a large SB fellowship in Birmingham, Alabama, and will take office effective immediately as president. The author of several bestselling books, Platt has been shepherd of the Birmingham, Alabama fellowship of about 4,500 members, since 2006. Platt has traveled extensively the United States and around the world where he has worked with many of our personnel. He and his wife, Heather, have four children: Caleb, Joshua, Mara Ruth and Isaiah.

Preaching

Last night, Our family had the opportunity to visit a church on the outskirts of Lima. John was invited to preach. He preached about how often times God changes our names after He changes us. It was a blessing to be able to fellowship with these people. They were kind and welcoming.  We are starting a cell group panting movement and this church will be part of that.

Just pray....

Hard recovery. Sick John. Exhausted Momma.

Building up our Facebook Social Media Page (so I have no excuse to not communicate)

You will find updates on our Ministry, Health, Kids and Missionary life at

www.facebook.com/phamilyof7inperu

PLEASE take a second to go to the page to "like" it so you will automatically receive updates instead of electronic mail that ends up in the spam folder. It would help me SOOOO much as I seek to connect with as many people as possible, in the most efficient, effective way possible.

Also, if you want some good reading, you can read our blog that dates back to 2006.  www.phamilyof7.blogspot.com

Also, I want to mention that we are "trying" to build up our page so that it will be the easiest form of communication with all of our prayer partners, family and friends back home because social media is the new way. HOWEVER, this page is in NO WAY to solicit money/funds for ministry. We are 100% fully supported, in life and ministry, by the Southern Baptist Cooperative Program and the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering that takes place every December (more on that in December - LOL). So no worries about "liking" this page and feeling that we will be continually asking for financial needs to be met for our family. You will not find that here thanks to the SBC and IMB. Just enjoy our life and God's calling with us!!! Blessings - The Phamspost signature

John

Hi friends. Please keep John in your prayers. He is not feeling well and has come down with a fever, although he continues to work. He must've picked up something from the jungle as he is NEVER sick.  Also, he will be having a mandatory surgery on Wednesday and he needs to be well for this. He will be in the surgical clinic overnight after the surgery. I do not think he understands the amount of pain he will be in. :( Nonetheless, pray for him to recover quickly.  He is such an asset to our family and the ministry here.

M.K. Song- Bethany Kennedy

This is the perfect song to understand the life of an M.K. You will enjoy this.

Uploaded on Nov 18, 2011
This is a fun, simple song that I wrote about being an M.K. (missionary kid). I hope you enjoy it! Here are the lyrics:

-V1
Is it true? you can't answer the question where are you from
You speak two languages but can't spell either one
You have a passport but no driver's license
And now you're wondering how that last one was wrong
-B
You're an mk, this is your life
It's not easy, but it's all right
In fact it's better and you
Wouldn't trade it for anything
-C
Mk's are a race without color, without culture. The only thing we have in common is that we have nothing in common at all.
-V2
Is it true? Your life story includes "then we went to" at least 5 times
Complete strangers say they knew you when you were "this tall"
National Geographic only makes you homesick
But you don't really know where home is at all.
-V3
Is it true? All you want for Christmas is a box of pop tarts
You know what REAL coffee tastes like and it's not like starbucks
Your parent's siblings are like strangers to you but
You have 50 or 60 aunts and uncles who love you
-V4
Is it true? You know the difference between 110 and 220 volts
You spent a 5th of your life in an airport
You go to a church you've never been in before
And you see your picture on the bulletin board.

Convenient Foods

Look what I found here in Lima. I think I bought them all. When you find American food, that is easy to prepare, you BUY it and then you BUY THEM ALL!!! SCORE!!! We have eaten a lot of burritos the last few days with these re-fried beans. I have NEVER seen them here before. And how cool it will be to have canned beans without soaking black beans for 24 hours. And sausage? And diced tomatoes? You just gotta buy them when you see them. Happy Missionary!!!

Pictures from the Jungle Trip

Honestly, I am so thankful for people, like these, who are willing to go out into places that are not easy to reach.  It sounds adventurous, but it actually very hard, tiring, uncomfortable work. Anyway, keep praying for this team until tomorrow night (and my sweet hubby, too). John says he has not been this tired in a long time - to the point of massive headache.  :(   When I see these pictures, I am just so thankful for my daily blessings and my bed. :)
