I was talking to our national friend, that we are working with in Oasis. I asked him how much a typical family makes out there. He said the men, as taxi drivers, bring home about $10/day. But then he said that Oasis has a large population of single mothers. Living in Oasis is all they can afford. I asked, "What do they do to make money." He said, "Whatever they can." He said they can feed their family, typically with multiple kids, for 5 soles/day. This is equivalent to about $1.70/day, with which they can buy beans and rice for their family. Unbelievable.
